A MOTHER, WIFE, AND MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY
It breaks my heart that I have to write about a woman innocently killed in our community.
Aieshia McFadden, 36, a mother of four, wife, Jersey City local, and Lincoln High School employee was walking to the store on Martin Luther King Drive with her daughter and was sexually harassed by a man. After refusing his advances and trying to protect herself and her daughter, she was then shot twice and pronounced dead hours later, with her daughter by her side the entire time.
She was only 36 years old.
A day after the shooting, an East Orange man, Thaddues Williams, 37, was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and criminal sexual contact for "touching the victim inappropriately".
As the community grieves, it is important that we raise awareness, mourn the death of a local, and share the news to protect our community going forward. This did not need to happen.
Aieshia's children are in need of support during this difficult time for their family. Please consider donating to the Facebook fundraiser (created by Aiesha's family) to raise money for her four children and her husband. Her eldest daughter, a college student, will now have the responsibility of raising her younger siblings.
If you wish to donate via Cash App, Aieshia's daughter is receiving donations at $LJBABY1
Any donation will help the family who lost their mother to senseless gun violence. Their lives will be changed forever.
Please share this post and continue to raise awareness on this matter.
We await Mayor Fulop to make a statement on this matter, and it breaks our heart that many community members have overlooked this horrible incident.
